MISSION STATEMENT
The mission statement of Excalibur Charter School is to provide a safe environment where a partnership between students, parents and the school addresses individual needs, encourages and enables students to achieve academic excellence and helps them develop the habits and traits of self-motivation, leadership, service, integrity, and respect for the law and for other members of society.
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
- Academic excellence: students deserve to be treated as individuals and to receive the assistance they need to progress. Students should not be held back by artificial age barriers. The school, the student and parents share the responsibility of education.
- Attention to the individual: each individual is unique, learns in different ways and has special talents and intelligences. Motivated students and parents will find the help they need to address these multiple intelligences and to achieve success. We find motivation to be more important than raw ability. We specialize in helping students who are or who can be motivated to achieve more then they suspected possible.
- Service to individuals and the community: we have a responsibility to give back to the society that has provided our education. Leadership skills are developed in a context of service, integrity and mutual respect.
- Honesty and integrity: a person of integrity will use his/her education to benefit society.
- Respect for the law: the law defines the minimum standard required by civilized society.
- Respect for others: every member of the school community (students, teachers, staff, parents) and the greater community deserves and will be treated with respect and dignity.
- Safety: a family-type environment free of drugs, tobacco, alcohol and gang-related activities.
